So for my last ten day break, I decided to go on a cruise to Greece and Croatia.
I was very excited with the pool and the beautiful room with the balcony. I also freaked out about the American outlets. It's the little things. We enjoyed the hot tubs most evenings and saw a couple shows and a game of bingo in the Royal theater.

Our first stop was in Bari, Italy. We walked around the town and took a tour of the fortress. Before getting back on the boat we had gelato because that's what you do in Italy. That night's dinner was Italian themed. We waved our napkins in the air and ate tiramisu.
Our second port was one of my favorites of the entire trip. We spent Monday in Olympia, Greece. We walked around the ruins and museums, and I sang, "I Won't Say I'm in Love" from Hercules the entire time. Before heading back on the boat we enjoyed some delicious iced lemonade and I bought one of those floppy hats I've always wanted. It was divine.
Dinner that night was gala night so I dressed up and we went "out" dancing. I had a great time.
Tuesday was Mykonos! We arrived and immediately saw the classic white buildings with blue rooftops, and I pretended I was in sisterhood of the traveling pants. Didn't find Kostos :(
We decided to rent ATVs and drive to Paradise beach. My helmet was defective, and I was terrified to be riding along the actual road with cars beeping at swerving around us. We made it thanks to my all-star guardian angel.
I LOVED the beach. I sat in a lovely lounge chair reading my book and taking in the hot sun. It was amazing. Apparently we timed our visit perfectly, because typically paradise beach is so crowded there's no room to stand but in the water. Crazy! It was one of my favorite places of this whole trip.
That night was Greek themed food but the Caesar salad was just...not actually a Caesar salad. The risotto made up for it though, and I looked like a Greek goddess. So there's that.
On Wednesday, we toured Athens, Greece. It was a very warm day, so I was happy. We purchased hop-on hop-off bus tickets and toured the city. We stopped at the Acropolis and the Parthenon.
We saw Athena's temple, and on the way back we stopped and wandered around Zeus' temple. All in all, I loved Greece, and I want to go back someday.
Our last stop was in Dubrovnik, Croatia. After a nightmare of getting my passport stamped, we boarded a bus to Split. We took it easy in Split because we are exhausted all the time. We walked around the markets in Old Town and went to the beach. We watched these guys playing this interesting looking game. It looked kind of like soccer or lacrosse but you use your hands and the ball looked like a racquetball. Despite the freezing cold water, they seemed to enjoy tackling each other. We enjoyed watching warmly from afar.
We flew back to Rome on Sunday and trained back to Lugano Sunday afternoon. I finally figured out how to adjust Matilda, my hiking backpack, properly so her weight rests on my hips and not my back; so glad I figured that out with only 12 days left in the semester. Just a typical day of traveling more than 12 hours through three different countries.
We have less than a week left in Lugano and we plan to enjoy every minute of it.
