This past weekend, I traveled to Nice! It was very nice. See what I did there? I know, I'm cute. We arrived in Nice, checked in to our Air BnB, and wandered around for a while looking for food. It was more of a challenge than we expected, but we finally found Old City and an Italian restaurant. Turns out, if you don't like seafood, Paris food isn't all that exciting. But I enjoyed my pizza and two sips of white wine. We chin chin'ed (cheers) to a great weekend.
Saturday morning, we woke up and went to the beach!! It had no sand and lots of rocks. I loved it. I tip toed along the coast to try to touch the Mediterranean Sea and not get my toes wet. Great news: I did it! I touched the Mediterranean Sea with my whole right hand, and it was quite chilly. I giggled and smiled and my friends had to start leaving to get me to follow. I love the beach.
After the beach, we climbed Castle Hill. The views of the city were stunning.
And we saw a beautiful water fall, too! Take that Pembroke Cascades!
After the beautiful cascades which everyone had to, once again, leave to get me to follow, we walked down the hill. On the way down, I saw this cute little mirror under a beautiful arch so I took a picture. It means, "You are beautiful" Why thank you tiny mirror, you shouldn't have. I was having lots of fun.
Carnival was happening in Nice while we were there, and they had a flower parade to celebrate! It was very interesting to see lots of different floats covered in beautiful flowers.
They even handed some flowers out to people along the route! Now that was a fun parade! No one to lead, no potholes to dodge while wearing a drum bigger than me, just ogling all the beautiful flowers and cheering as the band marched by. I loved it.
We had dinner again that night 'cause food is important. It was alright. My dessert was something else, though. Chocolate delight-yummo!
Sunday, we gathered our packs and headed for Monaco- Monte Carlo! I had a delicious bagel AND a macaroon for breakfast. They were both delicious. The bagel made me miss pork roll, though. First chance I get, I'm heading to Pennington Bagel for a pork roll in Jersey.
Monte Carlo was very fancy. We saw the changing of the guards at their palace. The views from up there were lovely, once again.
After eating at the small Italian place with the fancy bathrooms, we headed to the casino! It was very big and very fancy. We were soooo out of place. The cars in that parking lot were the nicest cars I have ever seen. I thought my high school senior parking lot was crazy but this was a whole new level of crazy. I thought of Taylor Martin the whole time because she would've known all the car names and fun facts about them. I just took pictures of the ones I could catch before they sped off to happily ever after.
Turns out, when you look like that (above) you can't get into a place like the casino in Monte Carlo. Crazy right? So we stared at it a while and, after deciding the flirt-our-way-in method was a bust, we headed to find a coffee shop to relax until our train left.
All in all, it was a fun weekend. Rome still has my heart. Probably easy to figure out considering how much Italian food we ate in France. Wasn't bold enough to try Chinese on the road. Who knows. Maybe I'll give it a shot in Barcelona!
